Lot Essay
The present lot very closely relates to a pair sold at De Baecque & Associé, Lyon, 14 March 2015, lot 247. The examples in Lyon are nearly identical in the modelling of the figures of Atlas, and in the mounts on the base, but each were executed in patinated bronze. The pair has the same zodiac bands but around bronze globes rather than opaline glass.
