Transient Light is a visual metaphor of the artist's relationship with the origin and impermanence of all things. Each rotation of the disc opens a momentary window into a different corner of the artist's universe. Some of these glimpses into another dimension are linked to future or past artworks, reinforcing a theme that is at the core of the artist's practice: “Everything Connected”. The refracting light permeates the scene bringing different emotions to the surface and highlighting the concept that many different outcomes can flow from one source. Although this specific context concerns light, the artwork leaves the door open to the idea that this principle can be adapted by the viewer depending on the individual’s personal circumstances.
Victor Mosquera (b. 1990) is a Colombian-born, Vancouver, B.C.-based artist creating works influenced by psychedelia and the ethereal intersection between consciousness and the subliminal. His unique and immediately recognizable style led him to work with a variety of musicians, festivals, films, brands and video games. His artworks have also been exhibited at contemporary galleries and art fairs. He exhibited his debut one-man show entitled New Lands in Los Angeles in the summer of 2019.
Mosquera’s works attempt to express his experience and perspective in topics that he feels are not meant to be described using words, and where visual language is one of the best tools humans can use to connect deeply with these ideas. Going as wide as the very fabric of creation, he dives into ideas such as the human presence in the universe, death, love, healing and how the human experience can distract.
