Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In good overall condition, structurally sound and ready to place. A small amount of minor woodworm damage to the medial support under the marble top, now inactive. The four legs and a few small sections of the openwork carving at the apron with later glue residue visible at the interior, some of the openwork sections replaced, an upper corner of one volute at the proper right rear leg repaired, some of the legs re-pegged. The surface has a matte reddish tone; probably a preparatory layer for the final re-gilding. The marble with light scratches throughout and some chips and 'nibbles' along its back edge, consistent with use and handling. Good scale, condition and presentation.
