Rounded rectangular with undulating gold borders, the sides and cover in lacquer with flowers and foliage highlighted by mother-of-pearl flowers, with wavy gold thumbpiece, the underside with a fine nashiji lacquer ground panel, marked on inside cover, base, and side with charge mark, date letter T, and maker's mark, indistinct, numbered 63 on the flange and with décharge mark and French import mark post 1893
