A very similar table by Francois-Antoine Gaudreaus (maître before 1735) was delivered in 1746 for the use of Mesdames Adélaïde and Henriette in their apartments at Versailles, see Pierre Arizzoli-Clémantel, Versailles: Furniture of the Royal Palace, Vol. 2, Dijon, 2002, no. 10, p. 55.

Claude Lebesgue worked during the first half of the eighteenth century with his brother, François, and son, Claude-Pierre, who gained his maîtrise in 1750 and continued working until his death in 1789. The remaining details of Lebesgue's life, including the date of his maîtrise and his work are largely unknown. However, the 'JME' stamp on the commode confirms a circa date of 1740 as this stamp was first introduced in 1743.
