Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In very good overall condition. The porcelain toads each with a few short intrinsic firing lines, in the making and under the glaze, as well as some general light scratches and scuffs commensurate with age and handling. Each with a few small scattered frits and flakes to the glaze, generally over the raised spots; some crazing to the glaze at the interiors; a few toes lacking. The ormolu mounts generally in good condition, the surfaces re-gilt, with some scratches, scuffs, minute nicks, scattered patina and the starts of a few small splits scattered throughout. The toad bodies affixed to the mounts by some old glue and putty, with some excess residue visible at the undersides. Overall very good condition, vivid glaze and charming subject.
