The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The vases generally presenting well, with the typical intrinsic imperfections, in the making. The surfaces generally with scattered light scratches, scuffs and minute accretions, some minor flakes to their decoration, mainly at the rims. One vase with a long J-shaped hairline crack and associated tiny losses near its origin, issuing down from the rim between the two cartouches, approx. 91⁄2 in. along its length.
The giltwood lotus also presenting well. With scattered small chips, losses to carving and gilt surfaces revealing a blac ksubstrate layer or bare wood in areas as to be expected with age. Several with areas of black scatching near their necks.
