Lot Essay

'These little squares are beguiling, secretive and totally charming. Collecting photographs is a completely visceral experience: you know you have found one that you have to acquire when the hair on the back of your neck stands on end, your heart pounds and you cannot move your feet. Pay attention to yourself. This is the first step in being a collector. The second step is to commit, to somehow obtain that object of your affection. Do that a number of times and you are a collector. Collectors are obsessed, ravenous for this one and then the next one. People who do not collect, won’t. They don’t connect with this intense, obsessive force.' – W.M. Hunt
