SPANISH CIVIL WAR PRESS PHOTOGRAPHS

A rare group of photographs of the Spanish Civil War.

A group of 15 press photographs, dated 1936-1939, various sizes (largest 170 x 255 mm., most 125 x 200 mm. and smaller), most with typescript descriptions on versos, stamps and serial numbers of various British and American press agencies. (Minor marginal light creasing, but overall in very good condition.)

A wide range of photographs showing bombed-out ruins, refugees, bread lines and prisoners captured by Nationalist forces. There is a photograph dated 26 November 1934 and 10 November 1947 with typescript note on verso: 'Government troops entering the Generalitat Palace in Barcelona after the members of the Catalan Government has surrendered'; we have not been able to identify exactly when this took place nor the exact action it depicts.
