A rare collection of ephemera defending Jews against anti-Semitic attacks in Britain before and during the Second World War.

Speakers’ Notes: No.3 [4, 5, 7, 19, 20, 24, 25, 28] ... Not for circulation. [London:] the Woburn Press [for Board of Deputies of British Jews, n.d., but c. 1937]. 9 pamphlets, 8vo (204 x 126 mm.), loose leaves stapled at top left-hand corner (staples rusted with associated light spotting).

ANON. International finance: more fascist lies exposed. Tiptree, Essex: The Anchor Press, [n.d., but c. 1939]. 8vo (215 x 140 mm.) Original stapled self wrappers (worn, loose and stained). Refutation of Nazi propaganda blaming Jewish bankers and international finance for the war. The text implies that war is imminent, but not yet declared.

BRITISH YOUTH PEACE ASSEMBLY. Youth and the Refugee Problem. London: [n.d., but c. 1939]. 8vo 215 x 140 mm.), 8pp. Pink donation and refugee hospitality form loosely inserted. Original stapled self wrappers (front cover unevenly darkened and soiled, staples rusted).

PARBROOK, Rev. G.H. The Jewish Bogey. Tiptree, Essex: Anchor Press, [n.d., but c. 1940]. Bifolium leaf (223 x 143 mm.), 4pp. (Marginal rust marks.) Provenance: Christopher Brunel (red ink ownership stamp to last page). This pamphlet states that it was reprinted from the Chester-le-Street Chronicle.

Worldcat only gives a 7th edition of 1948, but no other. This may well be the first edition; the date may be inferred by internal evidence, with a quotation from the Manchester Evening News of 24 May 1943.
