SANDERS, W. Stephen. The Tragedy of Russia. London: [n.d., but 1918]. 8vo (211 x 133 mm.). 14pp. pamphlet on the Brest-Litovsk Treaty between Germany and Russia of 3 March 1918 that ended hostilities on the Eastern Front. The author argues that the Bolsheviks’ capitulation has left German European imperial ambitions unchecked, and the penultimate page features a full-page map of a German empire stretching from the Finnish shore of the Arctic Ocean south and eastwards encompassing the former Ottoman Empire and reaching as far as Basra and the Persian Gulf. Original self-wrappers (staples rusted).
