Excellent album of images of Palestine taken during the Arab Rebellion

100 photographs (approx. 56 x 80 mm.) mounted on 24 leaves, with guards, oblong 4to (216 x 296 mm.). Original green imitation leather (lightly rubbed)

Good album of images of Palestine during the Arab Rebellion.

A COLLECTION OF RARE PHOTOGRAPHS OF PALESTINE, assembled by Pte G. Wilson, a British army serviceman in the Royal Scots regiment, who was probably deployed to Palestine in response to the Arab rebellion 1936-1939. This album contains 5 photographs showing leaders of the rebellion, as well as some depicting joint British military and Palestine Police exercises. Images of tourist sites around Jerusalem are supplemented by those which show the aftermatch of rebel strikes on the railways and military vehicles, as well as a number of explosions, probably showing demolition of property in Arab villages as collective punishment.
