Rare photographs of Palestine assembled by an RAF serviceman.

Provenance:
‘LGC E. Hall / RAF AQIR 1944/45’ (inscription on front pastedown).

Covering Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Nazareth, Tiberias, Bethlehem, Haifa and elsewhere, this album represents a rare account of the experiences of an RAF serviceman in Palestine during WW2. Some of the photographs depict members of the RAF on their travels around Palestine, with a number of shots of popular tourist sites. Others, however, show life at Aqir, the RAF’s main base in the country, including a view of the swimming pool, the interior and exterior of the church, and the Italian POW billet.
