PALESTINE POLICE FORCE PHOTOGRAPHS

A strong mixture of formal and informal photographs of the PPF.

[Photograph album, Palestine, c. 1940.] 36 photographs (various sizes from 64 x 40 mm. to 87 x 137 mm.) mounted on 9 leaves, oblong large 8vo (189 x 285 mm.). (A few photographs lightly spotted). Original brown cloth, string tie (extremities lightly rubbed).

A collection of photographs of the Palestine Police Force, probably taken around 1940 owing to the presence of ANZAC troops who arrived in Palestine at that time in support of the British campaigns in Egypt and the Suez Canal. Including photographs of PPF members at Lod Railway Station (Lydda), and others showing an armoured train and other military vehicles. Some photographs show PPF members on parade, but the majority are largely informal, including 1 showing officers socialising in the barracks.
