ANONYMOUS. U Borbi I Radu Izgrauju Narodi Slavonije Slobodnu, Demokratsku, Federalnu Državu Hrvatsku ('In struggle and work, the people of Slavonia build a free, democratic, federal state of Croatia'). [No place, no date, but c. 1945-1946.]

Very rare published photograph album showing partisan activity in the Balkans at the end of the Second World War.

Oblong 8vo (108 x 225 mm.), 45 (of 46) photographs mounted two to a leaf with printed captions, 7 photographs loosely inserted (all 60 x 60 mm.), showing scenes of ambushes, anti-tank positions, destroyed German armour, parachute drops, military funerals, and political rallies with banners displaying support for Tito. (Lacking one image, a couple of paperclip rust marks to margins.) Original printed wrappers bound with thin silk rope (extremities rubbed, lower cover fractionally chipped).

SCARCE PHOTOGRAPH ALBUM published at the very end of the Second World War. There are a number of images of political rallies with banners in support of Josip Broz Tito, one of which is shown next to a British union flag. The second leaf is entitled 'Against the destruction of the homeland, the atrocities of the occupiers and domestic traitors, our people/nation has arisen.' The reference to the 'people have arisen' suggests that the war against the Germans is still ongoing, which suggests a publication date of 1945, although this is not clear. NO COPIES CAN BE TRACED ON WORLDCAT.
