First edition of Vasi's masterpiece, extra-illustrated with 7 unnumbered plates, of superb views of Rome, ancient and modern. It was reprinted in 1786 and again in 1803. Because pagination differs among bibliographies and copies, the lot is sold not subject to return. Berlin Kat. 1880; Brunet V, 1098; Schudt 306.

10 parts in 3 volumes, oblong folio (303 x 409 mm). Half-title to part one, 2-page subscriber's list in part X, title to each of 10 parts with etched vignettes, engraved dedication in part one, text engravings, 207 etched and engraved plates [numbered 1-200 and 7 unnumbered], etched initials, and illustrations by Vasi (some occasional spotting and light browning, p. 49 slightly smaller and possibly supplied, p. 29 in part five with repaired tear slightly affecting text). Early 19th-century English vellum gilt, black leather spine labels (front covers slightly bowed, some minor soiling).
