ROWLING, J.K. (b. 1965). Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone [With:] The Chamber of Secrets [With:] The Prisoner of Askaban [With:] The Goblet of Fire [With:] The Order of the Phoenix [With:] The Half-Blood Prince [With:] The Deathly Hallows. London: Bloomsbury, 1999 [-2007].

First deluxe edition of each Harry Potter book, a complete set, each signed by the respective illustrator. While the story of the boy wizard Harry Potter would go on to take the world by storm, Rowling was totally unknown upon its first publication in 1997. It was not until 1999 and the publication of the third book in the series, Prisoner of Azkaban, that the deluxe editions began to be published. Deluxe editions of the first two books soon followed and were thereafter issued alongside the trade editions of each of the remaining books in the series.

7 volumes, octavo (233 x 150mm). Half-titles. Hogwarts coats-of-arms on half-titles and titles (minor scattered spots on dedication leaf of The Chamber of Secrets with a corresponding single marginal spot on pp.11-12). Original cloth, front covers with inset artwork within gilt border and lettered in gilt, the author's signature reproduced in gilt on front covers, spines lettered in gilt, coloured endpapers, gilt edges, silk ribbon markers; contained in a black cloth slipcase with silk ribbon pull. Provenance: artwork on front covers signed in ink by the associated artist.
