A regency celestial globe on original library stand. Made up of two sets of hand-coloured engraved split-gores laid to the celestial pole, the stars given to seven orders of magnitude, nebulae given, the equatorial graduated in degrees, the equinoctial and ecliptic graduated in days, the equinoctial labelled with the names of the months in Latin, the ecliptic labelled with symbols for the houses of the Zodiac, the constellations depicted by mythical figures, animals and scientific instruments. Sitting in graduated brass meridian ring with hour ring at north pole, hand-coloured engraved horizon ring supported on mahogany tripod stand with 32-point compass. 910 x 435 x 435mm.
