NEWTON, John (fl.1783-1818) Newton's New & Improved Terrestrial Pocket Globe; and Newton's Improved Pocket Celestial Globe. [London, circa 1817].

Rarely seen convex pocket celestial globe. Each globe comprised of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores applied to the sphere. The celestial with pins to poles to rotate in green painted pine box, the terrestrial mounted in bronze support with open book, dividers and telescope atop turned wooden base. 200 x 146 x 146 and 95 x 82 x 82mm.
