Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The condition of these gores is very good, with only slight wear commensurate with age, use and materials. Western Hemisphere: very small chip at bottom right-hand corner with expert repair just touching southern tip of gore 12, tiny spot between gores 10 and 11 just east of Caribbean; Eastern Hemipshere: with faint insignificant spot between gores 4 and 5. Both hemispheres are cut close to plate margin; there is some very faint soiling and insignificant marginal creasing in a couple of places. There is some irregularly wiped plate tone in a few areas, but this is as a result of contemporary production, not later condition issues.
