WISDEN – Cricketers’ Almanack for 1950 [-2019]. London: John Wisden & co. [1950-2019].

Large run covering the second half of the 20th century and into the 21st century, including several important editions such as the Centenary and 150th Anniversary volumes of 1963 and 2003, as well as the Millenium edition of 2000 which included the Five Cricketers of the Century: Sir Donald Bradman, Sir Garfield Sobers, Sir Jack Hobbs, Shane Warne and Sir Vivian Richards. The coverage of the dramatic finale to the Lord's test of June 1963, England v West Indies, fails to note that during the climactic last over, when Colin Cowdrey came in with a broken arm, and he and David Allen had to hold out against Wes Hall if the match was to be saved, every single screen of the Ballistic Missile Early Warning System was displaying the live BBC broadcast of the match, leaving Britain completely exposed to a Cold War attack.

60 volumes, octavo (160 x 102mm). Plates and illustrations, some coloured. Original cloth, vols for years 1965-2019 in publisher's dustjackets, vols 2003-2019 complete with the publisher's additional 'traditional' dustjackets (vols 1965-1993 with facsimile jackets for protection, overall condition varies from very good to near mint condition, spines on dustjackets for vols 1997-2003 and the spines on the 'additional' dustjackets for 2003-2006 and 2009 just a fraction faded).
