Lot Essay

It is unusual to find this raised dot ground decoration on Qingbai ceramics. The present lot may be compared with the qingbai water dropper and cover of similar form, size and raised dot decoration illustrated by Simon Kwan in Song Ceramics, The Mu Wen Tang Collection Series VOL II, Hong Kong, 2012, p 304.
Two related qingbai water droppers with this form and raised dot decoration excavated from the Hutian kiln site in Jingdezhen are illustrated by Jinangxi Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, Jingdezhen Museum of Civilian Kiln, Hutian Kiln Site in Jingdezhen - Report on excavations from 1988 to 1999-II, Cultural Relics Press, Beijing, 2007, colour plate. 136-3&5.
