Lot Essay

The form and decoration of the present lot may be compared with a yue celadon cosmetic box and cover (7.6 cm wide), Guangdong Province, 10th-11th Century, at The Museum of East Asian Art, Bath, illustrated in Inaugural Exhibition Volume I Chinese Ceramics, 1993, no.49. The author also mentions that similar boxes with Qingbai glaze have been found at the Chaozhou kiln in Northern Guangdong Province.
