The canvas has been subject to a strict reline; it is held under tension and remains stable. The portrait presents well in natural light, with the modeling of the face and drapery well preserved. Examination in natural light shows a repaired damage to the sitter's chest at the line of her chemise. There are some small areas of restoration in her hair to the right of her face. There appears to have been some further scattered retouchings to the background and the sitter's costume. There has been some thinning to the paint due to the relining process. Examination under UV light confirms all the aforementioned observations and reveals some further scattered retouchings, notably to the sitter's face. The historic varnish has been selectively cleaned. The paint remains stable.
