The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The canvas has been lined. There are some areas of paint shrinkage to the tower and foliage in the left quarter of the picture and surface cracking visible in places to the sky and background. There is a horizontal line of stretcher stressing across the upper edge of the sky.
Under UV light there are some small scattered areas of inpainting to stretcher stressing in the centre of the sky, and to other small areas of cracking in the sky. There is some infilling to old paint shrinkage to the tower nearest the left edge of the canvas. There are some further areas of retouching to frame abrasions and some scatterings elsewhere. There appears to have been a partial clean of the painting and there are remnants of an older varnish visible under UV light that makes any further reading difficult.
