The painting is executed on a copper plate; the plate is in good condition and remains stable. Examination in natural light suggests that there has been some retouching to the lower right-hand corner. There is some retouching to minor losses along the upper edge. There appears to be some retouching to the paler tones of the composition. Examination under UV light confirms the aforementioned retouchings. There are further scattered retouchings to the figural groups. The paint remains stable and the the complexity of composition fully appreciable.
