A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This secretaire à abattant is overall in excellent original condition. The marble with a expertly restored break to the front right eared corner. The crisply cast ormolu retains its original well-coloured matt and burnished gilding. The lacquer panels with fine craquelure as to be expected to all panels. The central panel with a few minor knocks. One side panel with some slight white bloom. The simulated aventurine borders with craquelure and minor flaking/losses. To the top edge of the base drawer there are two small 'blistered' raised sections of veneer and a further such section to the left edge of the escutcheon mount to the drawer front. Structurally sound and secure. There is one key.
