Overall the lacquer box is in good condition. There is a minute dent to the bottom edge at one side and some very slight wear to around the edge of the base. The underside of the base has some surface scratches overall. There is a chip to one corner of the lid, approx. 5mm. wide. The silver rim is lifting slightly on the left-hand long-edge of the box. The fitted wood storage box (tomobako) has very minor age-related wear including a few light marks and a dent to one bottom corner.
