The deep rectangular box with flush-fitting cover opening to reveal a fitted inner tray, finely decorated overall in various intricate lacquer techniques including gold, silver and black hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, togidashi-e and sprinkled nashiji, with inlays of mother-of-pearl, with a landscape of the Yoshino river flowing through rocks in a mountainous landscape with overhanging pine and flowering cherry trees; the interior tray with rafts amongst swirling water and scattered cherry petals; the box with silver rims and nashiji interior; with fitted wood storage box (tomobako)
