Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In overall fairly good condition. With the inevitable knocks, marks, losses, scratches and shrinkage cracks, consistent with age and use. The gilding/gesso decoration to the frames is in fairly good condition but with some minor chips, losses and cracks as to be expected. The gilding is rubbed overall revealing some red bole in places. The gilding is the same to each mirror. There are refreshments to the gilding. There is an inconsistency between the state of the border plates and the central plates raising the possibility that some may be replaced but this is not conclusive. The border plates with extensive oxidisation and losses to silvering, very minor marking to the silvering to the central plates. Otherwise of impressive scale and ready to hang.
