The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This very grand table is of beautiful walnut and has lovely carving. There are the usual dents, scratches, marks areas of wear and discolouration overall consistent with age and use. The table has been adapted from a larger, probably six-legged table à gibier, and sections have been removed to create its current form - this adaptation is visible and there are subsequent joins throughout to the frieze, visible in the illustration, with some replacements to make the current form. The top is also later. The leather is damaged in places with losses, marks and scratches. There is evidence of old, apparently inactive woodworm, which has been infilled in places, notably to one long side of the top. Structurally stable and ready to use.
