Lot Essay

The Dodgers were scheduled to play Philadelphia on the 13th however rain delayed both the game and pre-game event at which the selected group was honored until the following day. A period newspaper account covering the festivities refers to them as the "youngest old-timers team in history" as five of those noted were still active members of the team. While it is not known to whom the piece was originally given it stands to reason that only a handful were produced and were awarded only to those named as members of the All Star Team and perhaps a select group of high level team personnel.
