George Edward Arcaro (1916-1997) was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Italian immigrant parents. At 5'2", Arcaro became a jockey completing his first race in 1932 at the Agua Caliente racetrack in Tijuana, Mexico. He would go on to win more American classic races than any other jockey in history, including the U.S. Triple Crown twice, the only jockey in history to do so.
