The present bowl is an example of those given to participants (and several high ranking team personnel) in the legendary 7 May 1959 game between the Dodgers and Yankees at the Los Angeles Coliseum. It was played in honor of Roy Campanella (1921-1993) who had become paralyzed in a car accident after the 1958 season. There were 93,103 fans in attendance and it remains to date one of the most well attended games in Major League history.
