"This work is about the visual conversation between ‘these’ three women. The term 'these women', have at times been used as a pejorative when referring to Black Women when grouped together with one or more. Color becomes an important part of the dialogue, as does the individual expressions on the women’s faces. Their colorful and patterned garments express an exuberance and confidence. Here, too, are the offerings of lemons, a symbol of sweet and sour abundance." -Janet Taylor Pickett
