Lot Essay

The two adjoining views form a panoramic view of the lunar base of Hadley at the end of EVA-1: James Irwin is at the back of the Rover near the LM Falcon and facing Scott in response to his request to do so for a “tourist” picture. Mount Hadley Delta and St. George crater in the background.

“We were a base... I mean, if we’d had more oxygen and more food and more water in the LM, we could’ve stayed there. Nothing wore out... The rover’s still good. You could go out there and start it up right now. So, we had a lunar base established,” noted David Scott (Chaikin, Voices, p. 192).
