Lot Essay

Lunar Module 5, scheduled to be flown on the Apollo 11 lunar landing mission, would later be named Eagle by the astronauts. Grumman was the contractor to NASA for the Lunar Module.

The photograph shows the ascent stage of the Lunar Module-5 (named Eagle by the crew of Apollo 11) in final assembly area on overhead hoist being moved to dolly for roll-out inspection. It was taken at Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation in Bethpage, NY, which was the manufacturer of the Lunar Module.
