“This is a replica of the plaque which the astronauts will leave behind on the Moon in commemoration of the historic event. The plaque will be attached to the ladder of the landing gear strut on the descent stage of the Apollo 11 Lunar Module. Covering the plaque during flight will be a thin sheet of stainless stell which will be removed on the lunar surface” (NASA caption).
