Two frames from a telephoto panoramic sequence picturing Stone Mountain taken by Duke with the 500mm Hasselblad near the LM at the beginning of the last EVA.

165:44:38 Duke: And, Tony, our (Hasselblad) cameras are loaded as per checklist.
165:44:43 England (Mission Control): Okay, the changes on that...
165:44:44 Duke: Tell me again what mags you want on the 500?
165:44:47 England: ...500 millimeter is magazine Mike.
165:44:54 Duke: Okay.
165:44:58 England: And while you have it in your hand, we’d like a pan of Stone Mountain with it.

Duke took this partial telephoto panorama with the 500mm Hasselblad near the LM at the beginning of the last EVA.
It shows lineations on the eastern flank of the 500m high Stone Mountain, about 5 km away.

165:50:38 Duke: Okay, Tony. Your 500 (mm telephoto panorama) is complete. I’m up to frame count 65.
165:50:44 England: Okay. On (magazine) Mike, (frame count) 65.
165:50:50 Duke: That’s affirmative. And I got a horizontal pan, east to west, three levels of it.
165:50:58 England: Good show.
165:50:59 Duke: Top to bottom of the mounteen (sic).
165:51:02 England: That should make them all happy. How about those lineations. Do you see them still today?
165:51:08 Duke: (Not having heard England’s question) And the lineations, you can see...(Stops to listen) Yeah, they’re still there. They seem wider apart today than they did yesterday, though.

“That’s the other thing about the Moon, you have no feeling of depth perception. Because you have no telephone poles or anything to relate to.”
John Young (Chaikin, Voices, p. 70)
