Reestablished in 2015 by the Chopard Group, Ferdinand Berthoud is named for a legendary 18th-century watchmaker. Inspired by the rare and historically significant No. 26 decimal watch crafted by Louis Berthoud in 1793, the Chronomètre FB3 SPC pays tribute to the horological mastery of the past while embracing contemporary precision.

Powered by the Calibre FB-SPC, distinguished by its cylindrical balance-spring - a complex and rarely encountered watchmaking innovation. Notably, it is the only movement of its kind to meet the rigorous chronometric standards of ISO 3159, certified by COSC, a testament to the meticulous precision adjustments performed by the Manufacture’s expert watchmakers. The hairspring can be admired via an aperture on the caseband.

The present example, the FB 3SPC.2, is one of only two available variations, housed in a refined 18-carat 5N pink gold case. Its striking black-varnished minutes track provides a bold contrast to the black-rhodium treated movement components, offering a captivating interplay of depth and dimension. A masterpiece of both aesthetic and technical refinement, this timepiece stands as a remarkable fusion of heritage and innovation.

Due to the complexity of the movement, only 25 pieces are made each year.
