Lot Essay

Introduced in 2006, Reference 5960 was a milestone for Patek Philippe as the brand’s first self-winding annual calendar chronograph. Encased in a 40.5mm case, it seamlessly integrates an annual calendar, flyback chronograph, power reserve indicator, and day/night display that offer a blend of technical sophistication and everyday practicality.

The dial features a dynamic, sporty layout, with trapezoidal calendar windows and a distinctive double-handed chronograph register at 6 o’clock. Vibrant red and blue accents within the register contrast beautifully against the silvered grey dial, enhancing the model’s refined yet athletic appeal.

Beneath the surface, the timepiece is powered by the in-house Caliber CH28-520 IRM QA 24H, composed of 456 parts and is stamped with the Patek Philippe seal as opposed to the Geneva Hallmark. Despite its complexity, the movement delivers an impressive 55-hour power reserve, exemplifying Patek Philippe’s commitment to precision and innovation.
