The Odysseus was A. Lange & Söhne’s first foray into the highly competitive luxury steel sports watch segment. It was launched in 2009, their first new product family since the launch of the Zeitwerk in 2009.

The German brand has produced steel watches in the past, but they have been one-offs or limited editions, but the Odysseus remains the brand’s first serially produced steel wristwatch.

This was also the brand’s first watch depth-rated to 120 meters, thanks to a new case construction and a screw-down crown. The Datomatic movement was built ground-up for Odysseus and features a 4 Hz escapement, a departure from the more classical 3 Hz movements of Lange timepieces.
