Lot Essay

Introduced in 2010, the Saxonia Annual Calendar was A. Lange & Söhne’s first annual calendar wristwatch. Slim (9.8 mm.) and very wearable at 38.5 mm, the watch’s dial design is a study in balance – the outsize date at 12 o’ clock is perfectly off-set by the moon-phase indication at 6 o’ clock and the month and day indications at 3 and 9 o’ clock respectively.

Thanks to the sapphire crystal caseback, the gorgeous Cal. L.0851 is in visible in all its glory. The movement has an off-centre 21k gold micro-rotor with a platinum edge and features the classic three-quarter plate construction typical of Glashütte timepieces. Also note the swan neck regulator and hand-engraved balance cock. The movement has zero-reset function that stops the seconds hand and sets it back to 12:00 when the crown is pulled.

Classical-styled and sophisticated, the present timepiece is in excellent condition and is presented with its original box, papers, and corrector pin. The watch will appeal to all connoisseurs of fine watchmaking.
