Lot Essay

Produced at the beginning of the 1990’s, Audemars Piguet produced a number of motor-racing inspired watches. The present car engraved in gold on the dial is the legendary Ferrari 315 S - this particular car with the number ‘532’ on the door refers to the car driven by Wolfgang von Trips in his second place finish at the 1957 edition of the renown Mille Miglia race.

Naturally, this watch yearns for a car enthusiast’s wrist. At a very elegant 33 mm. size, maximum attention is drawn to the engraving; very much the perfect size to slim under the cuff on a weekend drive in your treasured classic car. To whomever bought the most recently sold $36 million dollar example of the 1957 315 S, we hope you have your eye on this!
