Lot Essay

Constantly searching for precision and performance, the alliance between racing driver Rubens Barrichello and Audemars Piguet arose naturally. By crafting the present chronographs with innovative and highly resistant materials, the link between the timepieces and Formula One is clear.

Born in 1972, Brazilian pilot Rubens Barrichello became a predominant figure of Formula One. Although Rubens encountered difficult first seasons when driving for the Jordan team, many quickly recognized his potential and acute driving skills. During the Formula One season of 1994, Barrichello was devastated by the fatal accident of Ayrton Senna and became the leading Brazilian racing driver in the championship. With his gathered experience and solid performances, Rubens joined Ferrari in 2000, where he partnered up with the renowned Michael Schumacher. During his years at Ferrari, Barrichello was able to get multiple podiums and dedicated his first win to Ayrton Senna. Throughout his career, Barrichello gathered impressive victories and performance, imposing himself as one of the most experienced F1 driver of all time.
