CARTIER, BAIGNOIRE S CRASH REF. 3174, AN ATTRACTIVE GOLD AND DIAMOND-SET ASYMMETRICAL WRISTWATCH
Legend has it that Louis Cartier created the Baignoire in 1912 when he stretched out the traditional round form of the conventional wristwatch. The two parallel lines closed by two curves at either end was reminiscent of a bathtub, hence the name (Baignoireis bathtub in French).
The Baignoire S can be sometimes confused with another classic Cartier model, the Crash. So much so that many refer the Ref. 3174 as the Baignoire S Crash model. The present timepiece has been consigned from the original owner and is presented with its original box and papers and is in excellent overall condition.
