Created at Grand Seiko’s famed Micro Artists Studio in Shiogiri, Nagano Prefecture, the reference SBGD202 was a statement of intent, it was meant to be a testimonial to the famed artisanal skills of the Japanese brand.

The watch is powered by Cal. 9RO1 which features the proprietary Spring Drive technology that combines the best of mechanical and quartz watchmaking. The movement, made from German silver, is hand-wound and is hand-finished by the artisans at the Micro Artists Studio. The movement bridge’s design is inspired by the silhouette of Mt. Fuji. However, it's not just a pretty looking movement - the watch’s accuracy is adjusted to an impressive ±10 seconds per month (±0.5 second per day) and the three mainspring barrels can provide eight days of power when fully wound.

The case and facetted hour markers and hands are all Zaratsu-polished for a distortion-free and highly reflective finish. First unveiled in 2017, it is learnt that approximately 10 units of this reference year are made making this a truly rare and collectible timepiece.
