Lot Essay

A connoisseur’s delight, this collaboration between Austrian watchmaker Habring² and Massena Lab also features the prodigious talent of boutique American watchmaker J.N. Shapiro, who is best known for his old-school engine-turned guilloche dials. The central section of his bronze dial features a basket-weave pattern made on an 80-year-old straight-line guilloché machine.

The watch is based on Habring²’s Erwin which runs a dead-beat seconds movement. A mechanical movement wherein the central seconds hand advances in one second increments across the dial, this is now an archaic feature rarely seen on modern watches. A limited edition of just 66 pieces, this watch is a lovely tribute to the bygone days of classical watchmaking.
