The Opus series from Harry Winston has brought together some of the brightest minds in watchmaking including the likes of F.P. Journe, Vianney Halter, Jean-Marc Wiederrecht, and Ludovic Ballouard.
Harry Winston roped in Johnny Girardin and Franck Orny to create the Opus 14. This timepieces features a classic record changer-inspired automaton complication that has three records “to play”.
By using the slider set into the left side of the case, users can choose between the following three disks: GMT time, the date, and a star bearing the signature of Harry Winston, a reference to the stars of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The movement comprises 1,066 components. To put this in perspective, Patek Philippe’s most complicated wristwatch, the Grandmaster Chime has 1,366 parts. A simple mechanical watch contains roughly 130 components. The watch had a retail price of 428,000 Swiss Francs at launch.
