Lot Essay

The manual-winding Monaco Ref. 73633 B was introduced in 1972, two years after the launch of the first, automatic-powered version in 1969. The case had the same dimensions as the automatic Monaco, but the winding crown was now back on the same side as the chronograph pushers.

Unlike the 1969 automatic Monaco which had a two-register layout , the manual-winding versions had a three-register layout. Stylish and forever associated with Hollywood icon Steve McQueen, the Monaco remains the quintessential 1970s racing chronograph.
