Lot Essay

The watch aims to give the user a sense of how the eight planets including the earth rotate around the sun, represented at the centre with a facetted Jacob-cut Citrine stone (288 facets, approx. 1.5 cts). The earth, made from enamelled titanium, rotates once every 60 seconds and the carrier system takes 10 minutes to make one rotation.

The planets are represented by cabochon cut precious stones half spheres: white granite for Mercury, Rhodonite for Venus, Red Jasper for Mars, Pietersite for Jupiter, Tiger Eye for Saturn (18k rose gold applique for the rings), blue Alcite for Uranus and Lapis Lazuli for Neptune.
